Chemonics PSP Consortium

The Chemonics PSP Consortium is structured to respond to USAID's current population, health, and nutrition services requirements. This combination of consortium members brings together a wide range of technical and implementation expertise. Members include:

Chemonics International Inc. - Overall Management/Private Sector Development/Public-Private Partnerships - one of the largest international development firms has worked to meet the needs of USAID and the people it serves since 1975. Working in 133 countries around the world, Chemonics has managed more than 600 projects in all key development areas, and currently manages close to 60 contracts for USAID in some 50 countries. Chemonics addresses health issues through a comprehensive, multisectoral approach and emphasizes local capacity building, private sector participation, partnerships and institutional strengthening.

Citizens International, LLC - Public-Private Partnerships - is a catalyst for collaboration, a small business taking a unique approach to multi-party partnerships and community driven development. At the heart of this approach is the recognition that long-term benefits from development initiatives require collaboration among numerous stakeholder groups. We address health issues through a community-centered approach, while emphasizing multi-party partnerships.

Development Associates, Inc. - Health Sector Reform/Health Policy/Health Finance - has almost two decades experience working with USAID on health-related behavioral change in recipient countries, including activities in some 11 countries in Africa, the Middle East and the E&E Region specifically on RH/FP social marketing. The firm combines this experience with strong credentials in health finance, reproductive health/family planning training, and monitoring & evaluation.

Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH)*- National Private Sector Policy/Health Sector Reform - one of the strongest academic programs in the world with rich traditions of scholarship, research, and service in international health, strengthens health systems through systems economics and policy analysis, and is involved in major health sector reform efforts underway worldwide. HSPH has made a major commitment of faculty and resources to the strengthening of international health systems through applications of health systems economics and policy analysis.

The HLSP Group - National Health Finance/Accounts/HIV/AIDS Capacity Building - is a United Kingdom-based international professional services firm specialising in the health sector. With offices around the world, HLSP has provided technical services in almost 100 countries. Our work is focused on improving health and reducing poverty worldwide but particularly in low and middle-income countries. We also advocate and practice inter-sectoral analysis of and solutions to the problems of development.

Initiatives* - Private Practioner Training/ NGO Development /Commercial Sector Linkages - a woman-owned small business, provides technical assistance to government, intergovernmental, and NGOs in social service sectors. It works to improve in-country managerial and technical capacity to plan, implement and sustain health programs.

IT Shows - IT Applications for Health/Health Communications - leverages Internet communications technology to improve health, with an emphasis on reproductive health in developing countries. IT Shows has provided technical assistance to health programs in Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Russia, and Guyana.

Institute for Global Health - The Center for Entrepreneurship in International Health and Development (IGH/CEIHD) - Pharmaceutical Partnerships/ Economic Analysis - promotes the use of entrepreneurial methods to improve family health. Drawing on the resources of UC San Francisco, Berkeley, Davis, and Los Angeles and Stanford University, it offers business and public health professionals to improve the health of low-income people in developing countries.

Joint Commission International (JCI) - M&E/Certification and Accreditation - extends the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) mission worldwide to more than 40 countries. Through both international consultation and accreditation, JCI helps improve quality of care.

Kaiser Permanente, Division of Research - Financing Mechanisms - has contributed more than 1,200 papers to medical and public health literature. Its work covers a wide range of topics including health services management and prevention and treatment of heart disease; cancer; alcohol use; and mental, reproductive, women's, and children's health issues.

Learning Systems International (LSI) - E-learning - has provided integrated, customized training to government and commercial clients for more than 23 years, specializing in development and delivery of custom courses, including e-Learning. LSI is a veteran-owned small business.

The Peoples Group (TPG) - Development Credit Authority/Health Financing - creates financial mechanisms to support health services delivery including RH/FP. TPG has worked withUSAID in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Africa, and Asia in developing profitable private healthcare businesses.

Porter Novelli - Social Marketing/BCC - is a global group of communications and marketing experts in 50 countries and 89 cities. A pioneer and world leader in brand-building and reputation management, Porter Novelli's Health Care Practice uses communications to change public perceptions, raise awareness, increase product sales, and change behavior. As an organization, we were created on the premise that we could apply the best practices of private sector marketing to achieve positive behavior change on health and social issues.

TerraHealth Inc. (THI) - Operations Research/ Market Research/Strategic Planning - is a health care services support company. Our core competencies are in health care consulting, medical staffing, information technology, mental health, and Vocational Services. We provide consultation, studies and analysis, information solutions, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis, and development of reporting/ outcome measurement tools, to strategic planning. It is a veteran-owned small business, 8a and HubZone certified.

Training Resources Group (TRG) - Training/Performance Improvement/Facilitation - is an employee-owned small business devoted to designing and implementing innovative approaches to improving the performance of people and organizations. TRG has worked in the U.S. and more than 115 countries throughout the world for 30 years. TRG has worked under USAID funded health programs for over twenty years, and is widely respected within the international development community for its effectiveness in facilitating organizational partnerships, engaging stakeholders in donor-funded activities, and strengthening local institutions.
